Hello! And thank you for stopping by. This is the online portfolio of me, Susie Hogarth, illustrator and writer.
Feel free to have a good poke around, there’s plenty to see. I guess I should warn you about the slightly nsfw lime-green obscenity in Gallery 1 but… oh it’s probably too late now. I’d provide refreshments if I could, but my freakishly talented tech-serf hasn’t found the plug-in for this yet, so cookies and coffee are on you.
You can, however, pick up a souvenir on your way out, if you so wish, by emailing me and offering me cash/goodwill/internships in high office in return for beautiful things. Bartering is encouraged, if only for fun.
I create hyper-coloured or monochrome slices of ladies (and, to a lesser extent, gents) popping frowns, poses and occasionally flashes, made using ink, pencil, blood, sweat and photoshop. I enjoy awkwardness, humourousness, the fantastical and the mundane. I work regularly for large and small magazines and publishers and often undertake private commissions.
I’m also interested in popular culture, so much so you could say I wrote the book on it. Well, a book on it. In 2007 the Zidane Press published my illustrated, pocket-sized introduction to the cult of celebrity. You can have a look at some sample pages on the Hogarth’s Very Large Handbook of Celebrity page and (if you are feeling covetous and have excellent taste) purchase a copy here.
I am currently working on a book of illustrated stories and as an author, I am lucky enough to be represented by Jon Elek at A P Watt.
